5 - 6 September 2013
LGMA is pleased announce that a Women’s Conference will be held 5 – 6 September 2013 at the Hilton Hotel, Perth.
The 2011 Conference was a great success and we will be building on this by presenting a program that is both topical and engaging. The theme for the conference is “Women in local government - it's smart business”
Half of the people working in local government are women, yet less than a quarter of managers are women and only ten per cent of CEOs.
We want at least half of local government leaders to be women and it can be done. Indeed, other countries are achieving fifty per cent or more local government leadership positions filled by women.
So let’s get together in September and start making it happen here.
The conference will look at things you need to know to help you win your next promotion.
You will be able to hear and meet and be inspired by women who have taken up leadership positions around the State.
Network and talk to others who are grappling with the same challenges.
Learn how to find a mentor or coach to help you build your confidence, personal brand and effective networks.
Discover how important are professional development and career planning and why and how you should take ownership of your personal finances.
The art of negotiating – work life balance – overcoming cultural barriers and unconscious bias – how to interact with elected members… you will come away from the two day conference energised and with a new toolkit of essential learning.
You will also have an overview of the state of gender equality in Western Australian local government.
So put these dates in your diary now: Thursday 5 and Friday 6 September, 2013 – and join us in the generous comforts of Perth’s Hilton Hotel.
